Manic Panic

Manic Panic began on July 7, 1977 in NYC. Two New York City sisters, Tish and Snooky, opened NYC's very first punk style boutique. They borrow $500 from their mother to start what is now a multi million dollar business. Tish and Snooky, singers in Blondie's first lineup, took their clothing and wild cosmetic ideas into main stream America. The name, Manic Panic, was coined by the sister's mother as her daughters were business owners by day and rockers by night. Their first store was located on NYC's infamous St. Mark's place. It became an icon for the punk generation. This store has been named in many books and videos/films over the years. The cosmetic line, introduced in the 70's, contained wild hair colors of every spectrum as well as the same colors for lips, eyes and nails. During the 80's their cosmetic line boomed once again. In the 90's, Tish and Snooky's hair dyes and cosmetics were being worn all over the runways by high fashion models and even celebrities. Manic Panic products could be seen in magazines, television commercials, and major motion pictures. The sisters had to move their once small, vintage shop to a huge warehouse. With the onset of the new millennium, Manic Panic products went international. These products can be found in just about every corner of the world today. Recently Tish and Snooky were visiting Venice Beach in California. They became infatuated with this area and opened a new Manic Panic shop. You can visit the Manic Panic shop and showroom on the west coast today.
