Anthrax

Scott Ian and Danny Lilker formed Anthrax in 1981 in New York City. They chose the band's name after they studied the evil sounding disease in biology class. They are a heavy/speed/thrash metal American band.  Anthrax is a pioneering group of thrash metal. The band is considered one of the 'Big Four' thrash metal bands of the 1980's. The other three are Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. Since their formation, Anthrax has released ten studio albums, twenty singles, and an EP featuring Public Enemy. Four of their singles have made the charts in the US. These include: "Black Lodge" - position 38, "Only" - position 26, "The Devil You Know" - position 30, and "I'm Alive - position 29. Twenty-seven music videos have been recorded as well as ten video albums. The lineup of the band has changed many times since their formation. Their current lineup is: Scott Ian, rhythm guitars and backing vocals, Charlie Benante, drums and percussion, Frank Bello, bass and backing vocals, Joey Belladonna, lead vocals, and Rob Caggiano, lead guitars. Danny Lilker, one of the founders, played lead guitars, bass, and backing vocals in only 1981-1984. Anthrax's song, 'Madhouse', can be found in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and in Guitar Hero II. Recently Anthrax headlined the Jagermeister Stage at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fesitval. In February 2012 they were nominated for five Golden Gods Awards, including Album of the Year. Anthrax is currently on a world wide tour.
